Fortunately the Milk REVIEW

FORTUNATELY THE MILK
By Neil Gaiman

"While picking up milk for his children's cereal, a father is abducted by aliens and finds himself on a wild adventure through time and space."

Hello all! BEA 2013 is over and so begins the onslaught of blogger reviews that bookish people everywhere have been waiting for. There were so many amazingly, noteworthy titles at the expo and I was indeed a bit overwhelmed. I figured I would start my post BEA reviews with this children's gem, Fortunately the Milk! I am super excited about this title and even more so about the author. I was fortunate enough to be able to sit in on Neil Gaiman's panel, where he spoke about why fiction is dangerous. Apart from being my favorite writer, Neil is also an incredible speaker!

That's Neil himself!
My luck continued and everyone in the audience was gifted with signed copies of Fortunately the Milk and Make Good Art. *eek* Neil also has an upcoming adult novel, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, being published in September of this year.

~ My Review ~

Fortunately the Milk is a fun and quirky adventure. One I am very excited about! Neil is a fantastic story teller in any genre he tackles. This book is perfect for juvenile readers, as well as adult fans of Neil!  It is a tale of a dad on a quest to procure milk for his two children. During his journey he meets aliens and dinosaurs, talking volcanoes and wumpires. He does his fair amount of time travel and of course, protects the milk at all cost. Who knew going to the grocery store could be so dangerous! Seriously, this is one of the most entertaining and imaginative chapter books you will get you hands on. The illustrations are amazing and enhance Neil's story at every turn. Fortunately the Milk is one you will definitely be adding to your collection, and perhaps gifting to Dad--because Dads deserve a reminder that they are heroes too!

BIG thanks to everyone who has nominated and awarded me in the past, but I just don't have the time to pass them on to other deserving bloggers.
